MMO Ribbon Anode (Mixed Metal Oxide Ribbon Anode) plays a key cathodic protection role in the corrosion protection system of petroleum storage tank bottoms. Petroleum storage tanks are often exposed to soil, moisture and other corrosive environments, especially the bottom of the tanks, which are susceptible to galvanic corrosion.

Using an MMO ribbon anode as an anode, the electrochemical state of the metal surface is changed by applying a DC current. The metal surface of the petroleum storage tank becomes a cathode in this system, which reduces its corrosion potential in the ambient medium and saves it from reacting with corrosive substances. The anode itself is subjected to the electrochemical reaction, reducing corrosion losses at the bottom of the tank.

The MMO ribbon anodes are installed in ribbons at the bottom of the tank to cover a larger surface area, ensuring that the cathodic protection current is evenly distributed throughout the entire bottom of the tank, especially in the areas that come into contact with the soil or groundwater.
