Development and Market Application of Low-Alloy Titanium Strip Coils

Titanium alloy strip coils and Pure Titanium Coil are mainly used in high-tech industries such as aircraft, aerospace, submarines, nuclear power plants, medical devices, high-end racing, as well as in civil applications like metallurgy, chemical industry, and decoration.

Currently, multiple complete Titanium Coil production lines have been established domestically, with equipment capabilities surpassing those of similar foreign enterprises. In November 2008, with the successful trial production of cold-rolled titanium coils domestically, a complete production chain has been formed from sponge titanium, smelting, forging, rolling, precision processing, to deep processing. The production technology of titanium strip coils has been increasingly perfected, accumulating a wealth of data and experience for the production of low-alloy wide-width titanium coil.

Medical Industry

Due to titanium's excellent biocompatibility with the human body, it has always been the preferred material in the medical industry. With the development of the strip market, the medical industry, which previously relied on sheet production for raw materials, is now shifting towards strip production. This shift is primarily due to the high precision and consistency of strip production, which ensures safety in human use environments. However, it also raises slightly higher strength requirements, thus stimulating the potential of the low-alloy market.

Civil Market

In recent years, titanium materials have gradually been accepted in the civil market due to their promotion in construction and kitchen utensils. Titanium's proportion in daily life has begun to serve as a demonstration of corporate strength in promotional materials. Emerging markets such as mobile phone cases, laptops, and business card holders have increasingly utilized titanium as a tool for promotion and as a medium for information dissemination.

Pipe Materials

Ti-3Al-2.5V is primarily used for Titanium Seamless Tube applications. These pipes can be processed into various crystal orientations from radial to axial textures. The diversity of Ti-3Al-2.5V textures provides an effective method to enhance performance. Initially developed as welding and seamless pipe materials, this alloy has also been applied in various other structures, though it still predominantly dominates in pipe applications.

Currently, virtually all commercial aircraft feature Ti-3Al-2.5V hydraulic systems, and this alloy is increasingly used in chemical equipment. Chemical equipment made from it can withstand higher operating temperatures, improve efficiency, and significantly reduce environmental impact. Its excellent corrosion resistance in seawater has led to its gradual application in seawater cooling systems and deep-sea oil extraction. Moreover, its high strength, low density, and good rigidity make it an excellent choice for developing bicycle frames and golf club shafts.
